Open Question: What is the benefit of paying Income Tax?

Hi
Mine frnd is having a salary of 240000 P.A ……In hand salary is of 17000 ,Company deduct provident fund and Income tax directly from his salary
But now he is dilemma whether to pay the income tax or not
His confusion when he discussed with me …..i was blank as i didn’t have enough knowledge regarding this
So i thought to ask you guys
His doubts are the following
What you mean by Income Tax filling ?
What is the importance ?
Will it can help me him in his future steps or not ?
In which way it can help ?
Will we get the money back which is been taken from our salary ?
What is income tax return means?
Please reply me so that i can help him out
