Open Question: guys i wuld like to open a demat account?

hey ppl, i am new to the stock market but am very eager to learn more abt it,
* first thing i need to knw is how much does it cost to set up a demat acc. and the rates i hear r 300, 500, 750, 900 and so on, so which one is a better option ?
*secondly i hav a normal account with ING vysya, so will there a problem in creating a demat outside?
*thirdly, should there be a minimum balance maintained in the demat acc. tht i create?
