I already had a PAN number and had discontinued to file annual returns for over the past 3 years as my income was inadequate to file taxes. Since my PAN card was in the “old” laminated format, I had applied with UTI Services for issue of the PAN that is normally issued by the IT department.
UTI Services when inquired about the delay in processing, reports that my PAN Card has since been disabled by the IT Dept. – What could be the probable reasons that the IT dept. can disable my PAN card, what are the provisions in law. Any persons with a similar experience ?
